SimCity Pages history The original version of this website went online in november 1999 under the name "The 100-procent Network's SimCity Pages". At the time it was part of a personal website but by far the best visited part. The website had a good first year but from the end of 2000 not much updating was going on anymore. At first the website was hosted at the webspace that came with my ISP acount. That webspace was lost however because I changed ISP at the end of 2002, causing the website to go offline. Plans to rebuild the website went into the fridge and stayed there for about 4 years. After some fiddling around with SimCity 3000 in november 2006, the virus struck and I started to rebuild the website. The original pages and files were still on my harddisk but the html-code was pretty much horrible so I decided to start from scratch with good and clean html but keeping the same look and feel. After a few weeks, at the beginning of december 2006, the website went online again under it's current name and with it's very own webspace and domain. This time, it is here to stay. What's the website about? Well, mainly SimCity 3000 for now. Besides the fact building the website is something fun to do and to learn from, I found that there was to little active SimCity 3000 websites on the internet. Hopefully it will fill the void a bit since the game is far from dead. The future? The current website will be tweaked until it's at the point I want it to be. That among other things comes down to improving and simplifying the code of the entire website, upgrading the city exchange with more statistics, fixing some glitches in the ratings of the statistics and possibly adding a database which could ad more options to the website. Basicly enough to do for a couple of months. After that, there there might be some expanding to SimCity 4. For now however, I have to little knowledge of it to do anything usefull with it. Perhaps I should get started playing it first. Who is behind SimCityPages.com? Tjerk Korving. A mechanical engineer from the Netherlands who likes SimCity. Nothing to do with web design, programming or something close to that in daily life. Interested in it though but not for a living. |
